I believe our hands can tell a story. They speak of love, family, history, friendship and togetherness which is why capturing moments like these are often some of my favourites on a wedding day 💖 Thank you so much to the lovely team over at Grey Likes Weddings (😘 @greylikes!) for featuring Sarah & Ramez's gorgeous Florence wedding! One of the hardest yet most thrilling things about weddings, is that they're a matter of time and place and you never know what you're going to get; each wedding day is an unknown series of events and situations unfolding and it's my job to observe, notice, position, direct and spot the best light throughout all of it. We were planning to do the first look on a bridge on the other side of the hotel, but it was in harsh sunlight and tourists were scattered throughout. I saw the stairs from the previous photo I posted, from the groom's getting-ready room and made the call to try using them instead. They were in the shade, but there was still a lot of foot traffic, so on the tight schedule of getting to the venue from downtown Chicago, we risked it. We were interrupted by just one man commuting up the steps, oblivious to the two people slightly more dressed up than the casual tourists with khaki shorts and selfie sticks. Kristin met her soon-to-be husband at the bottom moments later, where the sunlight was peeking through some buildings and reflecting a golden, cinematic glow.
