The Australian Institute of Creative Design presents, the new and upated Fashion Business & Merchandising Distance Course. This course will introduce you to the business world of fashion.
The course forms part of MST50116 - Diploma of Applied Fashion Design & Merchandising Qualification.
You will learn the different facets of merchandising and how to climb the ladder and achieve success within the fashion industry. You will Learn about the different career paths available in the fashion world, and how these people work together to produce a successful fashion label and the skills of forecasting fashion trends and translating them to commercial sales.

What is fashion merchandising?

Fashion merchandisers can be in charge of product development, production, buying, promotion and marketing, sales, retail management and visual merchandising.

They merchandisers work behind the scenes to get fashion products to the customer and building profit and growth for the business. Fashion merchandisers require fashion sense as well as business and marketing skills.

Through the course you will complete practical assignments, that will help you develop and apply your new skills. By completing these practical assignments, we are able to assess you on nationally recognised units of competency and students who successfully complete the course will receive a Statement of Attainment which will allow students to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) when applying for further study in Fashion Design.

What You Will Receive:

You will receive a series of tutorials to take you through the subjects step-by-step, including simple instructions to build on your current skills and knowledge. Each tutorial is bright and engaging so that you will enjoy the learning process. Each tutorial contains activites to help build your understanding of the subject, from introduction through to assessment.

Students will be provided with access to a tutor to assist with any questions and provide feedback and advice. Your tutor will also be marking your work throughout the course.

You will receive an equipment pack, with all the materials you will need to complete the course, including;

  • A4 Visual Art Diary
  • Motivation Manual
  • Full colour tutorial booklets
  • Reply Paid Envelopes (postage within Australia)

Accreditation:

This course is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and covers the following units of competency from the Diploma of Applied Fashion Design & Merchandising course.

Study at Your Own Pace:

The course has been designed so that students may complete the course in their own time, at a pace suitable for them. You may take up to two years to complete the course or finish in as little as 12 months. This gives students the flexibility to study when it is convenient for them, without having to adjust their lives around attending classes.
