Melbourne Cup 2017: More Than The Race, We Were There For The Fashion

Melbourne Cup is undoubtedly the race that stops the nation. However, as much as it is a race of Thoroughbred horses, it is also a race of fashion.

While the weather at this year’s cup wasn’t that pleasant, it didn’t stop the racegoers from expressing themselves through the clothes. A-listers in the Birdcage stayed with the classic and sophisticated look, but the non-celebs were more flamboyant with their choice of colours and millineries.

Let’s revisit our best dressed in the Birdcage:

Lastly, Melbourne Cup is never complete without the winners of the Myer Fashion on the Field (Women’s Racewear Award). The Cup Winner is Holly Stearnes from Melbourne who impressed the judges with her 80’s inspired pastel pink and yellow Nicola Finetti dress.
