Introduction to Pattern Making

Holiday Course Course Dates:

Learn basic pattern making techniques for skirts, tops, shirts and dresses. Learn how to adjust a block pattern to you own measurements.

Pattern make various skirt styles - A-Line, Panel Line, Gore, Yoke, High Waisted, Circular and Pleated.

Pattern make various dress/top styles - empire line, princess line, gathered, t-shirt. Shirt's, collars, sleeves. Take a pattern from a basic garment.

Students are required to have basic sewing skills or have completed the Beginner Sewing Course.


During the course students will:

  • Make basic adjustments to block patterns to fit an individual size
  • Create various Collar styles
  • create various Sleeve styles
  • Basic Blocks


Students will require the following equipment:

  • Sharp pencils (or pacer pencils and leads)
  • Calico (or fabric of your choice) to toile block patterns to check fit.
  • Notepad and pen for note taking

Course Duration:

Course runs over 5 consecutive days


Course Fees

$650.00.  A $200.00 minimum non-refundable deposit is required to enrol and secure a position in the course. The balance of the course fees is due prior to the course commencement date.
